Today, KidMag is going to show you some simple steps to make a delicious and healthy treat: chia seed pudding! Chia seed pudding is great in many ways. For one, it only requires five ingredients, and two, it is a great snack to enjoy during quarantine in between Zoom calls.

- 1 TBS of chia seeds
- 1/8-1/4 TSP of cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk of choice (we used coconut milk)
- 1/4-1/2 TSP vanilla extract
- one small spoonful of honey
Get out all of the ingredients before you begin. You could also get out the measuring tools you will need, too.
Start by getting out a relatively small plastic container. Then proceed to scoop 1 tablespoon of chia seeds into the container.
Now add some cinnamon. We like to shake in a amount that we like, and so can you. Just make sure you don’t add too much, or it will taste too bitter and overpowering!
The next step is to add the vanilla extract. The vanilla is a crucial part of the recipe and you should NOT skip this part. The vanilla is what adds a lot of the flavour and adds the yum factor! KidMag added 1/2 teaspoon, but you can add anywhere between 1/4-1/2 of a teaspoon. Just like the cinnamon though, if you add to much it will be bitter and overpowering.
It’s time to add the milk! You can use whatever milk you prefer, such as almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, soy milk, skim milk, or whole milk. However, choosing skim milk or dairy-free milk reduces the fat. Add 1/4 of a cup of your chosen milk to the container. sometimes you might need to add more. In this recipe, KidMag did not add enough milk, so our final product was a little less than perfect.
Mixing time! Grab a small spoon or fork and mix all the ingredients together until combined. It should look like this when you are done:
The final ingredient is honey. You can add as much as you like or none at all- but we recommend adding it for the best results. Simply take a small spoon and scoop out a reasonable and appropriate sized amount into the container. You might have to use your finger to scrape the excess honey off the spoon and into the container.
The next step in this recipe is the final step, and it is very important unless you want a lumpy and tasteless pudding. You now must stir in the honey quite well until you cant feel any lumps and it is all smooth. This is important because is spreads the honey and breaks it down so that the whole container will be sweet. When you have finally reached this sweet spot, it should look like this: (not much different from before)
Once you have completed all these steps, you can seal the lid on the container and place it in the fridge.
Ideally, your pudding should chill over night so the chia seeds have enough time to expand. However, if you are really anxious or very hungry, you can let it chill for two hours at the earliest. This is what it should look like after chilling overnight:
We admit, it does not look the greatest. But you must remember, its all in the taste and that is what makes this snack so amazing!
