Here are the ingredients and supplies needed for one mug cake:
- Flour
- Maple Syrup
- Baking Powder
- Cinnamon
- Almond Milk
- Oil
- Apple Pie Filling (we’ll show you how to make your own, but you can use store-bought apple pie filling too!)
- Two Bowls
- Three Spoons
- Microwave Safe Mug
- Small Microwave Safe Plate
To start, you need to make the apple pie filling. If you have pre-made filling, skip the next five steps.
First of all, ask an adult to peel your apple. Then, dice the apple into small cubes. You should get help from an adult for this step as well.
Pour 1/4 cup of chopped apples onto a small, microwave-safe plate and spread them around evenly.
Pour 1 1/2 tablespoons of maple syrup onto the apples.
Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon on top. Add more to taste.
Toss the apples in the maple syrup and cinnamon until they are evenly coated in syrup and spice using two spoons.
Microwave this plate for one minute and set aside for later. It’s time to start the batter!
Pour 1/4 cup plus 1/8 cup of flour into a bowl. We know this is kind of a weird measurement, but it’s what worked!
Add 1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder.
And the cinnamon! 1/4 teaspoon of it.
Stir all your dry ingredients together with a fork and set aside.
Bring out your second bowl and pour in 1/8 cup of maple syrup.
Add 1/4 cup of almond milk. Milk works too, just use whichever you have on hand. It doesn’t really affect the taste.
Now add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Whisk them together with a fork.
Add one tablespoon of oil once they are fully combined.
Layer batter and apple pie filling in a mug. Simply pour small amounts of batter into the mug at a time and put apple pie filling between the layers.
Microwave for 1.5 to 2.25 minutes.
Enjoy!
