Who doesn’t love french toast? The chewiness of the bread, the powerful flavour of cinnamon filling your taste buds, and a drizzle of maple syrup on top.
However, many french toast recipes require you to cook it over a frying pan with hot oil. To make it more kid-safe, KidMag has found a way to cook it in the microwave.
To start, make sure you have these common ingredients
- Bread
- Cinnamon
- Eggs
- Olive oil
- Milk
Optional ingredients:
- Maple syrup
- Fresh fruit
- Powdered sugar
The first step is to take out a small mixing bowl and 1-2 eggs. Crack the eggs against the edge of the bowl and drop the yoke into the bowl.
Next, put in one-quarter cup of milk (or any other milk alternative if you are allergic). The measurement on the measuring cup should look like this: 1/4 cup
Now start with 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon. If you really love cinnamon, go ahead and add a bit more!
Once you have added eggs, cinnamon, and milk, take a whisk and stir until the eggs are beaten and the cinnamon and milk are well mixed in.
When all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, pour the mixture onto a large plate.
Take however many pieces french toast you plan to make out of the fridge and make sure they are defrosted. Once they are defrosted, carefully place a slice of bread into the mixture. Let it sit for 10-15 seconds before picking it up and doing the same to the other side
When your piece of bread has soaked enough, carefully lift it onto a counter to rest while you quickly take out a plate and pour a tiny drop of olive oil. Then quickly put the bread on the plate with olive oil.
Put the plate in the microwave for 25 seconds. Then do the other side for another 25 seconds. When you take it out of the microwave, it should be slightly brown and the egg should be cooked. Unfortunately, KidMag does not have a photo of the french toast in the microwave.
Here is the final product, smothered in maple syrup.
