Whether you like it or not, fall is here. Summer has come and gone, and leaves are falling. The colour orange is everywhere. And so is the word pumpkin spice.
Since the fall season has begun, you have surely seen the word somewhere, whether it’s on a sign advertising Starbuck’s new seasonal drinks, or on this article here.
Whether you like pumpkin spice or not, you can’t deny that it’s a classic fall flavour. To celebrate the fall season, try KidMag’s delicious pumpkin spice mug muffin!
To start, gather all of these items:
- White Flour
- Baking Powder
- Pumpkin Pie Spice
- Maple Syrup
- Vanilla Extract
- Sour Cream
- Cinnamon (Optional)
- 8-ounce microwavable mug
- A mixing utensil
First, put four tablespoons of flour into the mug.
Then, add one teaspoon of baking powder:
Once you are done that, add one teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice.
Then, as your last dry ingredient, add a pinch of salt and mix.
Now, add two and a half tablespoons of maple syrup. Mix thoroughly after you add every wet ingredient to avoid having a bunch of dry flour at the bottom of your mug.
And now for the milk. Add two tablespoons.
Now add one-half teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Here’s a weird one: add a teaspoon of sour cream. Don’t be scared of this ingredient: it doesn’t really affect the flavour, it just makes a nice, moist mug muffin. But if you are a little apprehensive about putting sour cream into a dessert, you can use yogurt instead.
Now lastly, add cinnamon to taste if desired.
Hint: If your muffin batter seems a bit dry, add up to one tablespoon of water.
Make sure to mix thoroughly before cooking.
Place your mug muffin in the microwave for one minute on high and use a toothpick or fork to see if it’s done.
Try topping it will yogurt or whipped cream and sprinkle some cinnamon on top before digging in!
